Hayley Turner

About Hayley Turner

It is no surprise that Hayley turned out to be one of the most influential female jockeys the world has ever seen.

She was barely able to walk before her mother had her perched on a pony, carefully developing the skills that would eventually lead to a successful career. Riding out for a local trainer and attending the Northern Racing College only helped to spark her passion for being a jockey.

It wasn’t long before she ventured south to Newmarket and joined the yard of Michael Bell. Hayley’s first ride ended with her mount suffering an injury, but this only made her more determined to succeed. On June 4, 2000, she guided her first winner at Pontefract on a horse called Generate. From that day on, there was no looking back.

From joint champion apprentice to the first female jockey to ride 100 winners in a calendar year, she was unstoppable. Group success would follow on Lady Deauville, along with the honor of being named Channel 4’s Racing Personality of the Year. Group 1 rides soon turned into Group 1 winners, with the success of Dream Ahead at Newmarket. Next up was Epsom, with her first ride in The Derby on a horse called Cavileiro. The horse was unplaced, but international Group 1 success followed in the same year with I’m a Dreamer winning in the USA. Hayley was the first female jockey based in the UK to win an international Group 1 race. Hayley is still riding today and is a regular contributor on the ITV Racing program, where her expertise and experience are invaluable in trying to find that elusive winner.

We are honored and absolutely delighted to have Hayley as our brand ambassador, and wish her all the best for the season ahead.
